I was inspired to fill a void at a local bar for happy hour, where my official DJ career began.
This is just a place for my extra-curricular activities.
I wanted to show my DJing duties and interests.
Establish a vehicle through which I can express musical creativity.
Use my page as a business development tool for future gigs.
Let people see my other interests besides design.
Lack of funds always prevents pursuing your passions, so it's never easy to just buy the records you want to when you want to.
Quite often you did not know what component situation you were walking into from club to club, you had to improvise and think on your feet.
Money often got in the way when negotiating with promoters or venue owners.
I of course began buying lots of music and doing due diligence.
I started with a few initial gigs doing happy hours...
...meeting producers of events, other DJs...
I continued building my record collection to educate myself in the histories of genres and of club music.
Equipment came and went, but I slowly curated enough records to put together a good set or two...
I have had many residencies in San Francisco...
The Top, Phonobar, The Fillmore, SFJAZZ to name a few.
I look forward to keeping the faith of the craft, moving the past toward the future...
I stuck close to what may be called a 'UK' style... lots of jazz, funk, soul.
The Brits have a fondness for jazz in their club music and this really resonated with me.
